LBS Saga Deepens as new revelations pour in. It started with allegation against Charles Snetters for illegal dismissal of staff at LBS, reported elevation of unqualified staff, while demoting the qualified ones. As Helroz Zorleh of Our Staff reports, a version from the system has emerged linking Mr. Snetter to an alleged corruption over Radio France International Royalty Fees.

The Public Agenda has received a document from the Liberia Broadcasting System that is chock-full with corruption thus linking the Director General Mr. Charles Snetters Jr. According to a memo dated 2/16. 2009 with a subject: “Housing Allowance”, Mr. Snetters informed LBS’ Comptroller Bofor Toh from the date stated, to go on with the payment of Housing Allowance for 17 LBS managers including himself.
The Memo instructed the Comptroller as saying: Director General, Charles Snetters be issued an amount of US$1,500 follows by Albert Samukai, Deputy Director General $ 750.00, Juliana Buoro, $750, 00, B. Bofor, Comptroller, US$500.00. According to the document, the LBS Chief Accountant Mr. Robert George was at the same time given some US$250.00 and the Director of personnel, Gertrude Davies, signed for US$150.00 while LBS’ Sale Director Brownetta Johnson also issued US $125.00 The Memo also specified that the Director for Operations, Michael Kojo and the Steward of the Liberia Broadcasting System Mr. H. Tarweh signed for US$125.00 each in that regard.
The Charles Snetters’ Memo States that the Chief Engineer at the system, Tepenty Young, the Chief of Special Project V. Washington Blackie, Planning and Research Titus Kamaboakai, Radio Director Khrushchev Urey and the Director for Television Joseph Koon, each sign for US$125.00.
The document concludes that the Director for News and Public Affairs Lewis Togba and Benjamin Taingay be allowed to take away US$125.00 individually while Moses Dorbor, Director for Program sign for US100.00. Our sources at the LBS informed this paper that the seventeen employees are receiving the same amount as general allowances away from the Housing allowances.
According to an LBS’ source, Mr. Snetters and employees he allegedly selected and favored, have over the past fourteen Months benefited USD$73,150.00. From successive regimes of James Wolo, Blidi Elliot, Allison Barco and Singbe Johnson, the ‘Housing Allowance’ was reportedly scratched out.
But buck of the employees at the LBS have issued that Mr. Snetters’ action was meant to divert the RFI’s royalty. The employees stated in a document that the money ordered expended by Mr. Snetters was a Monthly payment to the system by the Radio France International meanly for fuel purchase for the function of the LBS and the RFI relay facilities.
When the Public Agenda phoned Mr. Snetters on the matter yesterday, he stated that he has no knowledge on such a document linking him to corruption. According to him, his office has had no such directive to the Comptroller at the LBS for the distribution of that amount. Reports said Mr. Snetters is expected to be cited by the Houses Committee on Broadcasting for his alleged actions
