VOSCON Was Responsive Bidder

--Finance Ministry SaysFinance Minister Nganfuah
The Ministry of Finance of he Republic of Liberia has denied media reports that the Auditing Firm, VOSCON, Inc., was hand picked by the Ministry of Finance for auditing purpose.
In press statement released yesterday the Ministry described as a misrepresentation of facts some media reports that VOSCON, Inc. was selected in the dark to conduct the audit, rather than allowing the selection process to be legitimized by the bidding formula.
The Ministry said in the release that “Whenever facts are twisted, there is always a need that truth be told so as to strengthen confidence in the system of public service delivery. Such is the case with some media coverage of the Government of Liberia Account Reconciliation exercise conducted by the Auditing Firm--VOSCON, Inc.”
The Ministry maintained that the fiscal authorities have developed plan to strengthen the overall public financial management system and give accurate and reliable reports on the finances of the country. The step mentioned by the Ministry involves an open and participatory budget preparation and execution process.
The Financial authorities maintained that due to their commitment to provide the Liberian people with reliable and accurate reports on the country’s finances, the Ministry has take appropriate measures to reconcile the bank accounts held in the various currencies.
In light of such major steps taken to boost accountability and transparency, the ministry concludes that it was better for people to authenticate the facts of the matter, rather than carry a misrepresentation.
