The former Secretary General of the Press Union of Liberia [PUL], Peter Quaqua has taken the mantle of leadership of the Union following this year’s election in Monrovia. Mr. Quaqua’s victory came, when he defeated his rivalry Bernad Warritay with 137 to 107 votes.
In a related development, the former proprietor of the Liberian Christian Media Center, Mr. Philip Sandi, has been announced as the new Secretary General of the PUL. Philip won against George Watkings of the Daily Graphics Newspaper, Jallah Gryfield of Radio Varitas as well as journalists, Philip Moore and Moses Wenyu.
According to the PUL’s Election Commissioners, Melissa Chea-Anan of the Inquirer Newspaper, went unopposed thus making her the next Assistant Secretary General of the Press Union of Liberia while Jacob Paley of the Liberia Broad Casting System won the Union’s vice presidency on white ballot. Mr. Quaqua, president-elect and corp of officers are expected to run the Union for the next two year.
