Global Women Consolidate Efforts At Colloquium

      A two-day inPres. Sirleaf & her Finland Counterpartternational colloquium on women’s empowerment, leadership development, international peace and security held in the Liberian Capitol Monrovia, has provided an opportunity for over 1,000 national and international women to consolidate efforts aimed at improving their conditions.
        The colloquium co-convened by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and her Finland Counterpart Tarja Harlonen, was witnessed by many women who are also playing leadership role in other countries respectively.

Liberia Rated Low In Economic Freedom Index

     Economic freedom survey conducted out of 179 countries in the world, puts Liberia at 157 position
    The 2009 Index, a product of the Heritage Foundation and Wall Street Journal, is the first to assess Liberia's level of economic freedom. Liberia's economic freedom score is 48.1, making its economy the world's 157th freest. Liberia ranks 35th out of 46 countries in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, with its overall score below the world average.

Foya Ripe For ADA//Libyan US$30m Rice Project

      The African Development Aid, Libya Africa Portfolio (ADA/LAP), has begun the clearing of 10,000 hectare of land in Foya, Lofa County to undertake a US$30m rice project in that part of the country.
     The initiative, according to the General Manager of ADA/LAP Elvis G. Morris is intended to assist the Liberian Government in improving the availability of locally produced rice on the market at a reasonable and affordable cost.
